Indonesia – Floods Damage Over 2,000 Homes in Aceh Province

Disaster authorities in Indonesia report flooding and landslides in Aceh Province in the north of Sumatra Island have affected more than 6,000 people since 05 July 2021.

Floods accompanied by some landslides were reported in seven districts of Teunom, Panga, Darul Hikmah, Setia Bakti, Krueng Sabee, Sampoiniet and Jaya. Several villages were left isolated after a bridge in Jaya District was severely damaged.

As of 06 July, 6,408 people were affected and 2,034 houses submerged. Some areas were under 70cm of water. As of 06 July, no evacuations, casualties or injures were reported.

Cut Nyak Dhien Airport located in Nagan Raya Regency recorded 127 mm of rain in 24 hours to 05 July 2021 and 237 mm the following 24 hour period, according to figures from Indonesia's meteorological agency BMKG.
