The South Korean government continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting Indonesia in terms of the energy transition. This was stated in the signing of the Joint Statement on the Green Initiative in Nusa Dua, Bali, Monday (14/11/2022).

The signing was carried out by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of Environment of the Republic of Korea Han Wha Jin as part of the G20 Summit.

This is a follow-up to the Green Infrastructure Development MoU, which was signed on March 15, 2022, in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"We realize that it is impossible for us to face the problem of climate change alone. We are very grateful for South Korea's cooperation in developing this green infrastructure," said Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in a statement received by InfoPublik, Tuesday (15 /11/2022).

This green infrastructure cooperation consists of managing water resources and supply of clean water, constructing energy-efficient buildings and eco-smart cities. This includes identification and infrastructure for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Basuki added that his party also appreciates South Korea's plan to participate in building a clean water supply system at the National Public Institute of Public Health, which will begin construction in two years.

"It is planned that the initial construction will begin in 2024, but we hope to speed up the process of preparing the detailed technical plans so that the installation can begin in 2023," said Basuki.

Furthermore, Basuki hopes that the Government of the Republic of Korea can actively support preparations for implementing the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), which will be held on 18-24 May 2024 in Bali.

This event is a follow-up to the signing of the 10th World Water Forum Framework Agreement on November 10, 2022, in collaboration between Indonesia and the World Water Council (WWC).

"We will work carefully because the preparation time is less than two years. We hope that the Republic of Korea can actively participate in helping us in this preparation," concluded Minister Basuki.
