​The government has officially declared the coronavirus outbreak (Covid-19) a national disaster. Determination of the status of the national disaster was stated in Presidential Decree Number 12 of 2020 concerning Determination of Non-Disaster Spread of Covid-19 as a National Disaster.

President Joko Widodo signed the presidential decree on Monday (13/4). At least, there are four points in the Presidential Decree.

"Declaring the non-natural disaster caused by the spread of Covid-19 as a national disaster," said the first point of the Presidential Decree.

The Presidential Decree regulates that the national disaster management due to Covid-19 is carried out by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling or following the Presidential Decree No. 7 of 2020 as amended by Presidential Decree No. 9 of 2020 concerning the Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling through synergy between ministries/agencies and local government.

The Covid-19 Handling Task Force is chaired by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo who is assisted by two representatives, the Operations Assistant to the TNI Commander and the Assistant to the Chief of the National Police.

In the third point, President Jokowi determined that the governor, regent, and mayor as Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling in the regions.

In setting policies in their respective regions, regional heads must pay attention to policies from the central government regarding the handling of Covid-19.

The number of corona positive patients in Indonesia as of Monday (4/13) reached 4,557. Of these, 399 died, and 380 patients were declared cured.

Special government spokesperson for Covid-19, Achmad Yurianto, said there was an increase of 316 positive cases compared to the previous day.

"Most of those who die are from the senior age group and with congenital diseases," Yuri said.
