Kupang (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has designated Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, as the host for the Asia International Water Day in March 2022.

"The NTT government welcomes the Ministry of PUPR for selecting Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, as the venue for the 2022 International Water Day," said NTT Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, while receiving a visit from Ir. Lilik Retno Cahyadiningsih, the General Chair of the National Committee for the Second Asia International Air Week (2nd Asia International Water Week) in 2022.

Viktor appreciated the hard work of the national and regional committees to make this Asian-scale event a success in NTT.

"We appreciate that we have chosen Labuan Bajo which is the location of a super premium destination in Indonesia as the host for the event," he said.

He said the PUPR Ministry had paid great attention to NTT by holding various international-scale activities in Labuan Bajo, the western tip of Flores Island.

According to Viktor, the arrangement of Labuan Bajo City as a premium destination is increasingly beautiful, because it continues to be dressed as a location for G-20 activities with iconic and exotic Komodo dragons.

Governor Viktor also emphasized that he would fully support the 2nd Asia International Water Week so that it could run smoothly and successfully.

"Don't worry, NTT remains safe and comfortable for anyone, let alone welcomes the presence of world-class special guests, that's for sure because NTT is the most beautiful stretch of heaven because it has metamorphosed perfectly and is full of exotics. We will certainly present the unique culture of NTT decorated with the most beautiful natural charms, which will never be found in any part of the world, except in NTT, which is known as the New Tourism Territory," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the National Committee for the Second Asia International Air Week Lilik Retno Cahyadiningsih expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to the Governor of NTT, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, who was willing to support the implementation of this world-class big event in NTT.

He said the activities of the Second Asia International Water Week (2nd Asia International Water Week) will take place on March 13-16, 2022 in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai.

Lilik Retno Cahyadiningsih, who is also Director of Internal Compliance at the Directorate General of Natural Resources at the Ministry of PUPR, said the event would be attended by a number of heads of state and ministers as well as AWC Board Members from 27 organizations in 15 countries throughout Asia, including from Japan, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, China, including the President of Korea and also the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo who will be present and open The 2nd Asia International Water Week 2022.

Lilik Retno Cahyadiningsih hopes that the event will also feature dances typical of NTT, such as Lego-Lego and Tebe which will strengthen brotherhood.

"So that the world community is also involved in preserving culture and the environment," he said.
