The benefit of this project is to provide additional raw water supply to improve clean water service for communities and prevent an increase of land subsidence caused by excessive use of ground water in Semarang.

Witteveen+Bos established a branch office in Jakarta in 1978. Having originally specialised in water management and land reclamations, they now provide a wide range of services. In 2016 they transformed the representative office into an Indonesian entity.

Their office currently has a weighted composition of colleagues of Indonesian, Dutch and international origin.
